When Angie Wells, a talented caterer and party planner who was raised by her Uncle Otto since she was a child, wants to take over Uncle Otto's event planning business upon his retirement, her cousin and doppleganger Candace puts up a fight. Candace, Otto's only daughter and Angie's nemesis, tells Angie that if she wants the business to herself then she has to agree to be Candace's assistant and get her into the biggest party in town, the Christmasquerade Ball, being held by wealthy bachelor Nikolaus Carmichael. Angie begrudgingly agrees and when Candace has an allergic reaction to a facial and can't make it to the ball, Angie dons the beautiful gown and mask and attends in her place, not knowing she and Nikolaus were going to fall in love when they chose each other's Christmas stockings in a party game. When the clock strikes midnight she takes her place back in the kitchen as though the ball was just a dream. Nikolaus vows to marry the masked woman he met at the Christmas ball who chose his Christmas stocking. Angie finds herself torn between telling the truth and losing the business or convincing Nikolaus that Candace was the masked woman he fell in love with.
